UZH for Staff

FAQ

Who’s invited?

All UZH employees are invited to the party. Your partner and children are more than welcome to join us, too – it’s a good opportunity for you to introduce your partner/family to your employer and your colleagues.

What can I expect?

You can look forward to a wide variety of entertainment, music, dancing and refreshments, from 5:00pm until midnight. Check out the program for more details.

Is the party free?

When you register, we’ll send you a voucher which can be used to purchase food and drinks at the party (see also “Why do I have to register?”). You will have to pay for any further food and drinks yourself. Festival wristbands will be issued for children up to age 12 entitling them to free food and drinks in the Kids Corner.

Why do I have to register?

By asking you to register, we know how many people to expect and can prepare accordingly. To make things as simple as possible on the day of the party, we’ll send you food and drink vouchers in advance by e-mail in form of a digital QR-Code. We can only send you these in time if you register by Friday, 31 May at the latest.

How do I get my vouchers?

The food and drinks vouchers will be sent to you in the week before the party in digital form by e-mail. Please check your spam folder, so you don't miss out on your vouchers.

What means of payment are accepted?

The Employee Party 2024 will be completely cashless. Accepted means of payment are:

  • Card (e. g. credit or debit card)
  • Lunch-Check
  • Food and drinks vouchers
  • Twint

How can I reclaim the deposit of reusable cup / plate?

Reusable cups and dishes are used at the Employee Party. The reusable cups can be exchanged or returned at any bar. There are deposit stations for the dishes.

A deposit of 2 CHF is charged and will be transferred to your debit or credit card at the deposit station or at the bar.
The deposit cannot be reclaimed as cash or via twint/lunchcheck.

Can I come to the party even if I didn’t register?

The employee party is open to all employees and you are welcome even if you decide to come by spontaneously or after the registration deadline. However, you will not receive refreshment vouchers if you do not register.

Will there be childcare facilities at the party?

The kihz Foundation will provide a varied program with supervised games and activities for children until 9 pm. However, this is not a babysitting service – parents are responsible for their kids at all times.

Will the party take place no matter the weather?

The party will take place outdoors on Irchel Campus in all weather. We’re hoping for a pleasant, warm summer evening, but will provide covered seating areas in any case. We recommend that you wear clothes that are also suited to cool and possibly wet weather, so that you can enjoy the outdoor party.

Should a weather situation arise that endangers you as a visitor, you will be informed of the situation by e-mail before the party or via loudspeaker during the party.

How do I get to the party?

We recommend taking public transport. Irchel garage has only a limited number of parking spaces. The best way to reach Irchel Campus is by tram: the no. 9 or 10 tram to the stop Universität Irchel, or the no. 7 or 14 tram to the stop Milchbuck. Some bike stands will be moved to make space for the party, but you will still find enough bicycle parking facilities close to the entrance.

Can I book the time I spend at the party as working hours?

The Midsummer Night Party is a great chance to get to know your colleagues from work better in a different setting. The focus will be on relaxing and having fun. Time spent at the party does not count as working hours. If you have to work longer than 5:00pm on Friday, you can of course join the party later.
