Why is there a UZH employee party?
About 10,000 employees from all over the world are employed at UZH’s seven faculties and about 150 departments, institutes, and clinics. This remarkably diverse community is one of the strengths of UZH. Above all, our University sets itself apart thanks to the people who work here. The Executive Board of the University wants employees to feel a part not only of their department, but also of UZH as an institution. Celebrating together is a nice way of strengthening the ties with each other as well as with UZH.
All employees of UZH are invited to the party. Your partner and children are more than welcome to join us, too. The party is also meant to be an opportunity for you to introduce your partner/family to your employer and your colleagues.
Will there be childcare facilities at the party?
The kihz Foundation will provide a varied program with supervised games and activities for children. However, this isn’t a babysitting service and parents will be responsible for their children at all times.
What can I expect?
From 4pm until midnight you can look forward to a diverse and colorful mix of music, entertainment, dancing, and food. For more details, please read the program.
Is the party free?
When you register, we’ll send you a voucher for one meal and two drinks per person (see also “Why do I have to register?”). Any additional meals and drinks that you buy will have to be paid for by yourself. Additional vouchers can be bought on site with your lunch check card. We will provide free food and drinks for children up to 12 years at the syrup bar in the kid’s corner.
Why do I have to register?
By asking you to register, we will know how many people will be at the party and can prepare accordingly. To make things as simple as possible on the day of the party, we’ll send you your food and drink vouchers to your office in advance. But we can only send these if you registered before the deadline of 11 June!
Can I come to the party even if I didn’t register?
The employee party is an open event and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. Should you decide to attend spontaneously on the day without having registered before the deadline, you’ll of course also be welcome. But you will no longer be able to get any free food and drink vouchers.
Will the party take place no matter the weather?
The party will take place outdoors on Irchel Campus in any kind of weather. We’re hoping for a pleasant, warm summer evening, but will provide covered seats in any case. We recommend that you wear clothes that are also suited to cool and possibly wet weather, so that you can spend the entire evening outdoors.
How do I get to the party?
We recommend taking public transport. Irchel garage has only a limited number of parking spaces, which are further reduced due to ongoing renovation works. It’s best to arrive at Irchel Campus by tram: Take tram no. 9 or 10 to “Universität Irchel” or tram no. 7 to “Milchbuck”. The party requires us to temporarily relocate a few bicycle stands, but there will still be plenty of places to leave your bicycle at the entrance to the party area.
Can I book the time I spend at the party as working hours?
The Midsummer Night Party is a great chance to (better) get to know your colleagues from work in a different setting. The focus will be on relaxing and having fun. This is why time spent at the party can’t be recorded as working hours. If you have to work longer than 4:00pm on Friday, you can of course join the party at a later time.
